Partly thanks to an assist from Ruud Vormer, Club Brugge booked a late 1-2 win over FC Zenit on Tuesday at the start of the Champions League season. In Ukraine, Juventus was too strong for Dynamo Kiev with 0-2.
Morata important to Juventus
On a visit to Russia, Club Brugge took the lead in the second half by a hit by Emmanuel Dennis. The match seemed to end in a draw when Dejan Lovren hit the post and Bruges keeper Ethan Horvath.
In the 93rd minute, the Belgians took the victory after all, when captain Vormer passed the ball to Charles De Ketelaere, who scored from close range.
Noa Lang, who came over from Ajax, came on for Club Brugge in the final phase, which plays in group F. Lazio and Borussia Dortmund meet each other later in the evening in the same group.

At Dynamo Kiev-Juventus, striker Álvaro Morata scored within a minute after half time, when he reacted alertly on a rebound. Kiev gave the Champions League finalist of 2015 and 2017 a nice match, but saw Morata score again with a header just before the end.
Juventus had to do without Cristiano Ronaldo in Ukraine, where, just like Zenit-Club Brugge, a large number of fans sat in the stands. The star player has the corona virus. Matthijs de Ligt is recovering from a shoulder injury and did not participate yet.
Later in the evening, the other match in group G of the Champions League will be between FC Barcelona of coach Ronald Koeman and the Hungarian Ferencváros.
The kick-off will also take place at 9 p.m. at Chelsea-Sevilla and Stade Rennes-FK Krasnodar in group E and Paris Saint-Germain-Manchester United and RB Leipzig-Istanbul Basaksehir in group H.
