In an interview with Sport Bild, Charles Leclair, answering the question of how he would behave if he suddenly received an offer from Mercedes – and this can be imagined if Lewis Hamilton decides to end his career – categorically stated that he would remain in the team from Maranello.

“Mercedes is doing a great job and I have great respect for them, for the way they work,” replied Charles. – But I prefer to stay in Ferrari and do my best to get the team back to the level at which it should be.

I play for Ferrari and I’m proud of it. This is a legendary team. And I just want our engine and our car to be the best. I am sure we can achieve this. “

The driver from Monaco also said that he is not inclined to compare Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton, although he is about to repeat the seemingly unshakable record of the German driver for the number of champion titles won.

“I don’t like to compare different historical eras. The racers were different then, the cars were very different from the current ones, – Leclair emphasized. – Both are great athletes who have achieved incredible success in Formula 1, and both deserve great respect.

When I see Lewis on the track, it’s not the same as I imagine when I think of Michael Schumacher, although Hamilton will also become a Formula 1 legend when he retires. As a child, I always watched on TV the races in which Michael participated. Therefore, I perceive it differently. I have a lot of respect for Lewis, but he is also one of my rivals. “
