On the Thursday before the Eifel Grand Prix, Charles Leclair talked about new products Ferrari and nMick Schumacher’s upcoming Friday workout debut …
Question Charles, what can you say about the upcoming weekend? Have you ever played on the North Loop?
Charles Leclair: No, I did not race on the North loop. Maybe I’ll ride the circle today if it’s open.
As for the Nürburgring, I drove the short version in Formula 3 and the standard version in Formula Renault. An excellent track, thanks to the weather, the races were exciting. I hope it will be so this weekend.
Question: The team brought new items to this stage. Can you tell us about the car updates this season?
Charles Leclair: We brought small updates, albeit more significant than in the previous stage. We are doing everything in our power, given the difficulties that the team is facing at the moment. This is not easy, because first of all it is necessary to analyze what is wrong with the machine, and then solve the problems. We are taking small steps, but moving in the right direction.
Q: What do you think of Mick Schumacher’s Friday workout debut?
Charles Leclair: Considering the weather, it won’t be the easiest debut. Even if it rains and the session is difficult, he still does not need to prove anything, since he has already proven everything in Formula 2 this season. I’m sure he’ll do great tomorrow.
Q: This year’s results will affect how long the team can work in the wind tunnel next year, developing the car for the 2022 season. Given this fact, could Ferrari’s current league performance give the team an edge in the future?
Charles Leclair: I think this rule was made in order to help teams that are experiencing problems. We have problems and hopefully this will help us. However, I would still prefer to fight for higher positions this season. Hopefully we will take advantage of this and win back.
