The team Mini X-Raid announced this Friday that it will repeat the driver line-up for the next Rally Dakar, so the Spanish Carlos Sainz, current champion of the event, will once again team up with the French Stephane peterhansel, the pilot most awarded in history of the competition.

Both will repeat at the wheel of Mini John Cooper Works and will begin their preparation next week in the Andalusia Rally. In the case of Sainz, he once again has his usual co-driver Lucas Cruz, with which he has won the Dakar three times (2010, 2018 and 2020). Both will seek the fourth title in Saudi Arabia, where the test will be held again between January 3 and 15.

“I’m looking forward to racing together with Mini again in the next Dakar. Of course I’ll try to defend my 2020 win. Now that time has passed, I must say that this is one of the victories that I am very proud of. The next Dakar it will be another great event, after this year’s experience, probably even better. As for the car, despite the difficult moment we have been able to work in some areas. The team has done a great job and I think we have become even better, “said Sainz in a statement.

For his part, the team manager, Sven Quandt, praised the “great combination” formed by its two pilots. “Not only are they very fast, but they are also they work well together. We are very happy that both are back to compete with the team, although the preparation for the Dakar is not easy, “he said, referring to the limitations caused by the pandemic.
