Sergio Busquets has a good feeling about the first official match under coach Ronald Koeman at FC Barcelona. The experienced midfielder is happy with the way Villarreal was beaten 4-0 on Sunday.
“We played well, especially in the first half. We were superior, kept moving and kept finding the spaces. In the second half we slowed down a bit to keep the ‘zero’. It feels good,” said the 32- year old Busquets.
The international of Spain was used to playing in a 4-3-3 system and is now one of the controlling midfielders in a 4-2-3-1 formation under Koeman, together with Frenkie de Jong.
“The system is indeed different and there are some new team mates who are trying to adapt as quickly as possible. We feel good about it and want to continue to really become the team we want to be.”
According to Busquets, the atmosphere in the Barcelona dressing room is good with Koeman as trainer. “Although the atmosphere has always been good. With competitions like this it can only get better.”
Barcelona’s second league game with Koeman at the helm is on Thursday, when Celta de Vigo is the opponent. Three days later, Seville comes to Camp Nou.
