The Toyota team won for the third time in a row at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which gives it the right to keep the famous cup at home – the racer of the Japanese team Sebastien Buemi announced this after the race. Of course, his partners are also delighted with today’s success.
Brandon Hartley: “Of course, until I fully realized this, but in fact, our victory is a reward to all those people who are not in sight, but they did a great job to make such results possible. I’m very happy for my new teammates and I managed to win Le Mans with two different factory teams – it’s incredibly great! (in 2017, the New Zealand driver won the legendary marathon with the Porsche team)
In Le Mans I feel at home, I love this track, and I only want one thing – that next year there will be fans in the stands again! “
Kazuki Nakajima: “The emotions are incredible! First of all, I am very happy for our team, because now every Toyota driver has won Le Mans at least once! Although at the beginning of the race we had many problems, but then our second crew faced even more serious difficulties.
And yet the car showed itself perfectly, so we are very pleased with the result! “
Sébastien Buemi: “If you remember the events of the race, then immediately after the start one of the wheels was punctured, then we started having problems with the brakes, and it already seemed that everything was lost, but in Le Mans you can never give up. Problems arose both with our second car and with the rivals from the Rebellion team – in the end, the victory went to us. I am very glad that we have succeeded!
Since Toyota won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the third time, the team got the right to keep the main cup – that’s what we were aiming for, and now the goal has been achieved! “
