Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many races have been canceled this year, and those that have taken place usually did not have fans. This negatively affected the financial situation of motorsport, but the British government – through the Sports Winter Survival Package – is ready to help.
Of the £ 300 million allocated by the government for all sports, six million will be transferred to the owners of the main circuits – Silverstone, Goodwood, the British racing club and MotorSport Vision. We are talking about loans, which then have to be paid back, but these are investments within the country, support for employment and important business for Britain.
David Richards, President of the British Motorsport Federation: “We are very pleased that the government has decided to support the circuit. British motorsport employs over 40,000 people and generates around £ 10bn for the economy – and all this activity is centered around the racetrack. ”
