The President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, has not finally offered the list of countries that would be buying wood from the Brazilian Amazon illegally, as it promised it would do this Thursday, in its usual appearance on social networks.

Two days after the promise Launched during the last summit of the bloc of emerging economies, the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), Bolsonaro has not only backed down, now assuring that no specific country will be accused, but that He has also thanked the companies that would be helping the Government to combat this crime.

Ask for help from companies

“We are not going to accuse any country of committing any crime or of conspiring to commit it, but we are interested in the help of companies to fight this crime“said Bolsonaro, who days ago assured that the countries that most criticize his environmental policies are those who would be buying this wood illegally.

In this sense, Bolsonaro has ensured that this type of criticism about how his Government has managed the recent environmental crisis by the fires in the Amazonare part of “a great international game” to “hurt” Brazil, since it has emerged as “a power” in agro-industrial matters.

“Exactly what they want is to reduce our competition, certainly by facilitating other exchanges or even the Commerce internal of these basic products, “said Bolsonaro during an appearance through his Facebook page.

European trade blockade

Bolsonaro has given as an example of this “great game” a recent legislative project of United Kingdom, which prohibits the sale of merchandise by companies that import materials from countries that carry out deforestation policies, such as Brazil.

Although the criticisms of the United Kingdom have been veiled, those that Bolsonaro has expressed against France they have been rather direct. The Brazilian president has accused the Paris government of hindering the agreements between the European Union and Mercosur (Southern Common Market), signed last year.

“France is our competitor in raw materials. Our big problem for us to advance in the agreement of the European Union with Mercosur it is exactly in France. We are doing our best, but France, in its own defense, stands in that way, “he said.

“The intention is always to leave us isolated in what we have in our economy, which is more powerful, what is the engine of our economy, the agroindustry“, he insisted.
