José Flabio Torres decided to leave his position in one of River’s rivals in the Libertadores. Find out the reason.
Just four games since the resumption of football was what lasted José Flabio Torres in Binational. This Tuesday, the coach decided to make public his departure from the Juliaca team, River’s rival in the Copa Libertadores.
Torres had assumed in 2020 and suffered in the middle, before the stoppage, the 8-0 against River at the Monumental. Already in the return to football, Binacional added headaches: he could not play at the height of Juliaca and on top of that the team was sanctioned because some players broke the health rules by getting together in a brewery.
After the 0-0 with Cienciano on the last date (two points out of twelve, seven behind the University leader), Torres announced his departure on Instagram.
“Hello, friends. I want to inform you that we have reached an agreement with the Board of Directors of the Binational club and I have ceased to be the coach of the team together with the technical command. Unfortunately, there were no good results. I want to thank President Juan Carlos Aquino for the opportunity. I wish the best for the team, I send a special hug to the boys. Hopefully things improve for the good of all. To the people who are fans of Binacional, well, unfortunately we couldn’t do a good campaign. Things didn’t they worked. But we leave calm, knowing that we made every effort to make things go well, “he said.
Binacional will play for the local tournament on Friday before University Alliance. Four days later he will receive Liga de Quito for the Libertadores. The Peruvians add three points in the group, like the other members. TO River You will receive it on September 22 in Lima.
