Vålerenga vs. Rosenborg. It does not get bigger. There is also a duel between the top series’ two top scorers; Ajara Njoya (27) and Marit Clausen (24).

Sunday’s match can be absolutely decisive for where the league gold ends up. That’s why the two top scorers – both with nine goals – are very important. In total, Vålerenga has scored 28 and Rosenborg 27 goals in this year’s league.

– That Ajara Njoya is all the way up there was as expected. It is a little more surprising that Marit Clausen is fighting for the top scorer title – but it is not shocking either, says NRK expert Carl-Erik Torp.

– Njoya came from Sundsvall to Sandviken in 2018 – and then straight to Vålerenga the following year. She has some extreme skills, not least she is very fast, says the expert.

– Clausen is a more typical striker, a play-off point, dangerous and a good finisher.

Marit Clausen was a striker in her childhood, was then retrained as a midfielder as a 14-year-old, and that was where she played in her first period in Trondheims-Ørn, now Rosenborg.

Injuries caused her to step down in the parent club Ranheim from 2018. In 2019, she returned to the top league team. In the meantime, she had managed to get sharp again.

The 2019 season yielded nine league goals in 19 games. Now she has nine goals in 14 league games, but this year’s Toppserie season will be shorter than normal. Last year, Sandviken’s Kennya Cordner was the league’s top scorer with 17 goals, but there were 22 league rounds. This year it will be 18.
