Bayern Munich has booked its fourth victory in a row in the Bundesliga on Saturday. The reigning champion was 1-2 too strong for 1. FC Köln with substitute Joshua Zirkzee. Borussia Dortmund won 0-2 against newly promoted Arminia Bielefeld.
Borussia Dortmund keeps pace with Bayern
It was already hit after thirteen minutes for the team of trainer Hans-Dieter Flick. Köln defender Marius Wolf got the ball on his hand in the penalty area and so referee Frank Willenborg pointed to the spot. Thomas Müller shot impeccably.
Just before half time, Bayern doubled its lead. After a quick counter, Serge Gnabry got the ball in front of his feet and the wing attacker found the far corner after a solo with his left. 1. FC Köln came back to 1-2 in the final phase via Dominick Drexler, whose goal was awarded by the VAR after the linesman still flagged for offside, but the home team did not get further than that.
At Bayern, Zirkzee came in in the 63rd minute as a replacement for Maxim Choupo-Moting. It was the nineteen-year-old striker’s first playing minutes since September 30, when he was also a substitute in the battle for the German Super Cup with Borussia Dortmund (2-3 victory). Kingsley Ehizibue stayed on the bench at Köln the entire game.
Thanks to the victory, Bayern takes the lead from RB Leizpig for a few hours, which will meet Borussia Mönchengladbach later on Saturday (6.30 pm). The club from Bavaria has fifteen points after six league matches.

Borussia Dortmund continues to keep pace with Bayern Munich in points. Last season’s number two won 0-2 at newly promoted Arminia Bielefeld thanks to two goals from defender Mats Hummels.
Seventy-time German international Hummels broke the spell shortly after the break with a head goal from a corner kick, after which he scored again with the head twenty minutes before the end. At Arminia Bielefeld, Mike van der Hoorn was replaced after 83 minutes.
Further in the Bundesliga, Augsburg captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw won the meeting of Mainz players Jean-Paul Boëtius and Jeremiah St. Juste 3-1 and Bas Dost’s Eintracht Frankfurt and mercenary Tahith Chong’s Werder Bremen won no further than a 1 -1 tie. Chong had to leave after 62 minutes.
