Bayern Munich coach Hans-Dieter Flick expects his team to have a particularly difficult time on Thursday evening with Sevilla in the battle for the European Super Cup. In any case, the German is careful not to underestimate the Spaniards.
Lewandowski’s employability is still questionable
“Sevilla has deservedly won the Europa League. The adult team is tactically strong and that is the work of an excellent coach”, Flick pointed out on Wednesday during his press conference to Julen Lopetegui.
“They can put a lot of pressure on their opponent and they love to play on the attack,” he continues. “It will be a dynamic and intense game. I expect a lot from both sides in the field of football and it will therefore be a real top game.”
Thanks to winning the Champions League, Bayern will play for the European Super Cup for the first time since 2013. ‘Der Rekordmeister’ won the prize for the first time, after three previous editions (in 1975, 1976 and 2001) were lost.
As the winner of the Europa League, Luuk de Jong’s Sevilla competes for the European Super Cup for the sixth time, but only in 2006 was won. In 2007, 2014, 2015 and 2016, the ‘Rojiblancos’ missed out on the prize.

Despite those four defeats, Flick is afraid of Sevilla. “I hope the team is 100 percent focused on this game. Against Sevilla it is not enough to give 98 or 99 percent. We have to give 100 percent.”
Flick has an almost fit selection, although he does not yet know whether Robert Lewandowski is also available. The Polish striker was slightly injured in the game with Schalke 04 (8-0 win). “Lewandowski will join the group training today and then we’ll see how he is doing. But I think he can play tomorrow.”
Joshua Zirkzee is also part of the selection of Bayern Munich, which will start the battle for the European Super Cup against Seville at 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest. The competition will also be tested with the admission of a limited number of spectators.
