Davy Klaassen celebrates his official return on Sunday as a basic player in the shirt of Ajax. The midfielder immediately receives the confidence of trainer Erik ten Hag against sc Heerenveen, who has changed his basic team in five places.
Klaassen forms the midfield with Mohammed Kudus and Ryan Gravenberch, with Kudus probably the most advanced player. It means that Edson Álvarez and Quincy Promes have lost their base spot.
That also applies to Antony. The Brazilian has to make way for fellow countryman David Neres on the right flank, while Lassina Traoré is preferred to Zakaria Labyad in the striker. Captain Dusan Tadic is on the left.
Compared to the previous match against FC Groningen – two weeks ago, they lost 1-0 – Perr Schuurs returns to the center of defense. He has recovered from an injury and relieves Jurriën Timber in the Ajax base.
The 27-year-old Klaassen plays his first official match in the Ajax shirt against Heerenveen since 24 May 2017, when he was captain of the team that lost to Manchester United in the Europa League final.
Ajax-sc Heerenveen is led by referee Björn Kuipers and starts at 2.30 p.m.
Ajax setup: Onana; Mazraoui, Schuurs, Blind, Tagliafico; Klaassen, Kudus, Gravenberch; Neres, Traoré, Tadic.
Line-up sc Heerenveen: Mulder; Floranus, Van Hecke, Bochniewicz, Woudenberg; Joey Veerman, Dresevic, Kongolo; Van Bergen, Henk Veerman and Batista Meier.
