Steven Berghuis made little effort on Sunday to hide his disappointment after Feyenoord’s first loss of points in the Eredivisie. The captain was very critical of his team’s play in the home game against FC Twente (1-1).

‘Last three chances should all have been done’

“A lot of things will have to be improved if we want to have a good season”, Berghuis said FOX Sports. “It was just a bad game.”

“We had a bad field play, a bad field occupation, a slow pace and little initiative,” summed up the baling attacker.

Feyenoord only lost points in De Kuip for the first time since Dick Advocaat succeeded the dismissed Jaap Stam at the end of October last year. Despite this, Berghuis thought that the Rotterdammers had a known problem on Sunday.

“If you have seen our matches often, also last year, then we never really played convincingly. Again not today”, berghuis gloomy, who missed a penalty. On the rebound he was tapped by a Twente defender, after which the ball hit the spot again. Berghuis was accurate on his second chance.

Furthermore, Feyenoord got few chances, well into injury time. Berghuis (two) and Luciano Narsingh ignored imposed opportunities.

“All three should have been in it”, Berghuis grumbled. “At my first chance I was hesitant between heading and shooting and I hit the ball with my shin. And that second chance I hit half on my heel, a shame.”
