KHL has revealed coronavirus infections in several different teams. Infections have been reported by Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, Torpedo Nizhni Novgorod and Dinamo Riga.
According to a KHL press release, the Dinamo Riga team has five infections. Lokomotiv has confirmed three, and Torpedo four cases of coronavirus. All infected and symptomatic individuals are in home quarantine.
Lokomotiv was scheduled to play an away game in Sochi last Thursday. However, 11 players and one person on the team staff reported their symptoms on game day, so the match was postponed.
The team returned to Yaroslavl the same day and went for coronavirus tests. In the first tests, no one was found to be infected, but nine players still said they were suffering from symptoms.
All Lokomotiv players from the juniors to the representative team took the coronavirus test again on Sunday.
Three team matches have had to be postponed. Last week, matches against Sochi and Dinamo Minsk were postponed. Now Monday’s game against Kunlun Red Star has also moved on, but not very far.
– Lokomotiv goes into more detailed studies, which include antibody tests to taste. We hope the game can be played on September 22, a day later than planned, KHL writes in its press release.
The team is represented by Finnish Atte Ohtamaa.
More match transfers
The match scheduled for Tuesday between Dynamo and Torpedo has also been postponed. The new date will be announced later.
KHL felt that Torpedo would not have had time to get successors for players placed in isolation. Paperwork to cross borders would not have been done in time either.
All three teams have said they will go into more detailed investigations.
On Thursday, KHL confirmed that the next six matches by Kazakh Barys Nur-Sultan have been postponed to the same future due to coronavirus infections. As many as 12 of Barys’ players gave a positive corona test result. The entire team has been quarantined for two weeks.
