AZ has surprisingly strengthened itself on the closing day of the transfer market with Bruno Martins Indi. The 34-time international of Orange is rented from Stoke City for a season. Earlier on Tuesday, left back Juan Familia-Castillo was already taken over from Chelsea on a rental basis.

Familia-Castillo competitor of Wijndal

The transfer of Martins Indi means that the defender will return to the Eredivisie after six years. He exchanged Feyenoord, the club where he grew up, for FC Porto in 2014.

After two years in Portugal, the country where Martins Indi was born, he moved to Stoke City on a rental basis. The English took him over three years ago.

The 28-year-old Martins Indi, who was a fixed value at Stoke, was a basic player in the Orange squad that finished third at the 2014 World Cup under national coach Louis van Gaal. His last international match dates from June 4, 2017.

At the 2014 World Cup, Martins Indi was in the back with, among others, Ron Vlaar, whom he now meets at AZ.

Amsterdam-born Familia-Castillo is the stand-in behind Owen Wijndal as left back. “With Wijndal and Maxim Gullit at Jong AZ we had two left backs and we thought that was too little”, says director of football affairs Max Huiberts on the site there is.

Familia-Castillo played on a rental basis for Ajax last season, but it did not come to a debut in the first team. For Young Ajax he came to 23 duels and six assists.

The international of Orange under 20 switched from the Ajax youth to Chelsea in 2016, where he did not play a match in the first. He has a contract with the English top club until mid-2022. With Wijndal, he has a player at AZ who is in the selection of the Dutch national team.

Fortuna Sittard strengthened itself in the last hour of Deadline Day with Samuel Moutoussamy. The 24-year-old midfielder, two-time international of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is rented for one season from the French FC Nantes.

“We are bringing in a creative midfielder with Samuel, who can also play on the flanks. He is an agile footballer”, says technical manager Sjors Ultee of Fortuna Sittard.
