The President of the Community of Madrid Isabel Díaz Ayuso has assured this Saturday that altercations produced in demonstrations against selective confinement in the region “They are politically supported at the highest level.”

The Madrid president has made this statement through her social networks, where she has posted the images of police officers attacked in the police charges last Thursday in Puente de Vallecas, where there were four arrests after charging the National Police.

Ayuso has expressed his support for the agents, whom he has said are “professionals who will always risk their safety in compliance with their duty and for all citizens, starting with the most humble neighborhoods.”

The Madrid president has criticized the altercations, after Más Madrid and Unidas Podemos censured the police charges for considering them disproportionate, according to the spokesmen of both formations in the Madrid Assembly, Pablo Perpinyá and Isabel Serra, respectively.

Last Thursday, the National Police charged the protesters of a rally against Ayuso’s health measures and detained four youths between the ages of 17 and 19 who are accused of an attack on the authority and injuries for allegedly throwing stones at the officers.

Dozens of people gathered yesterday, Friday, in front of the Madrid Parliament in solidarity with those detained in the protests on Thursday and calling for the resignation of the Madrid president and the Interior Minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, for the arrests after the concentration against the perimeter confinements.

After the march, peaceful, a group of people attacked the Puente de Vallecas Municipal Police Unit yesterday with stones in the city of Madrid and caused various damage to private vehicles.
