This summer Ashleigh Weerden exchanges FC Twente for the French Montpellier HSC.
This transfer fulfills a long-awaited wish for 21-year-old Weerden, namely playing football in the highest French league. Montpellier finished the 2019/2020 season in fourth place in Feminine Division 1.
The attacker played for FC Twente for three seasons. “After three great years at FC Twente, in which we became champions and won the very first Eredivisie Cup, I look forward to taking the next step in my career.”
She played a total of sixty games for Twente. In it, Weerden scored six times.
Weerden made her debut in the Dutch national team on March 4, 2019 in the 1-0 loss against Poland during the Algarve Cup.
