Good news for all users who have a Amazon Echo or a Fire TV at home, as Amazon has officially announced the arrival of Apple Podcast to the Echo and Fire TV devices with Alexa. With the arrival of Apple Podcast to Amazon devices, the Echo and Fire TV are among the ones with the most compatible services for listening to music and podcasts, since in some countries you can also listen to podcasts on Souncloud, Deezer, Spotify and Amazon Music.
The most interesting thing about this function is that podcasts are available even without an Apple account, just ask Alexa to open Apple Podcast, or ask it to play a specific podcast from this platform.
How to use Apple Podcast on Alexa?
To start playing Apple podcasts on any of your Amazon Echoes, you can say the command “Alexa, open Apple Podcast”, or you can specify the program you want to listen to, such as “Alexa, put La Magia del Caos with Aislinn Derbez on Apple Podcast ”.
It is important to mention that Apple Podcasts are not linked to Apple Music like Spotify is, so if you linked an Apple Music account it does not mean that Apple Podcast will automatically link to your account. Once you ask Alexa to open Apple Podcast, the Apple Podcast Skill is automatically added to your account, so if you want to link your account you must do the following:
- Go to the Alexa app on Android or iOS.
- Click on the “More” tab located at the bottom right of the screen.
- Select “Music” and then “Apple Podcast”
- Now click on “Settings” and then on “Link account”
It is important to emphasize that if you do not have an Apple ID absolutely nothing happens, since linking your account will only allow you to keep a history of your podcasts, but if you do not link an account you are not limited to listening to only a few programs.
