Apple has on its own website a digitally watchable event announced on Tuesday, September 15. On that date, the focus may be on the iPad and Apple Watch. The new iPhone would be announced later.
‘iPhones will come later’
The presentation will take place at 7 pm (Dutch time) in the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. The event cannot be attended due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Just like the announcements of Apple’s developer conference WWDC earlier this year, this presentation can only be viewed via a live stream.
What Apple is announcing has not been disclosed. Typically, Apple presents its new iPhones in September. The usually knowledgable Bloombergjournalist Mark Gurman reports, however Twitter that the event is mainly dedicated to the new iPad and the Apple Watch.
A new HomePod speaker is also expected. In addition, there are rumors about wireless over-ear headphones from the company, which would be called AirPods Studio.
Apple would not announce new iPhones until October. The company previously announced that the new iPhones would arrive “a few weeks later” this year. No reason was given, but it is said that this is due to delays in the production chain.
A total of four new iPhones are expected. The iPhone 12 would become the affordable model, available with screen sizes of 5.4 inches and 6.1 inches. The 5.4-inch version is said to be the smallest iPhone in years.
In addition, the iPhone 12 Pro is expected, which will appear in two sizes. The 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch versions are rumored to be the largest iPhone ever.
Among other things, improvements in camera systems are expected in the telephones. Apple might also want to release a device with a screen that refreshes 120 times per second. Other new top phones from Samsung, for example, already offer that screen technology.
Improvement: An earlier version of this post stated that Apple would announce new iPhones on September 15th. Nuance has been added to the text, because it is currently rumors. It is therefore not certain what exactly Apple will present.
