The new film directed by Ron Howard, of which below we show you the official Italian trailer, is entitled American Elegy, will be a November in some selected cinemas later to be available in streaming his Netflix from November 24.
Interpreted by Amy Adams, Glenn Close, Gabriel Basso, Haley Bennett, Freida Pinto, Bo Hopkins e Owen Asztalos, the film is based on an autobiographical bestseller of the same name written by J.D. Vance, published in Italy by Garzanti adapted for cinema by Vanessa Taylor. It is described as “a powerful personal memento that offers a window into a family’s personal journey of survival and triumph. Following three generations through their exceptional battles, JD’s family story explores the ups and downs that define the very essence of his family.”

J.D. Vance (Gabriel Basso), a former marine from southern Ohio and now a Yale law student, is on the verge of getting his dream job when a family crisis forces him to return to the home he tried to forget. JD must deal with the complex dynamics of his native family in the Appalachians, including his unstable relationship with his mother Bev (Amy Adams), who is struggling with addiction. Fueled by the memories of his grandmother Mamaw (Glenn Close), the strong and intelligent woman who raised him, JD comes to embrace his family’s indelible footprint on his personal journey.
