Alfa Romeo and Sauber Motorsport have announced contract extensions until the end of 2021. The new agreement implies increased cooperation, which will now concern not only Formula 1.
Sauber Engineering specialists will take an active part in the design, development and production of the new Giulia GTA and GTAm models. Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi will tune the cars at the Alfa Romeo test track in Balocco.
In the days of the Grand Prix of Emilia-Romagna, the team’s livery will change slightly – an enlarged Italian flag will appear on the cars. In doing so, the team will celebrate Italy’s contribution to world motorsport and celebrate the 110th anniversary of Alfa Romeo.
Frederick Wasser, Team Leader: “The increased cooperation with Alfa Romeo should be seen as a statement of intent on both sides. With Sauber, Alfa Romeo has found a dedicated and result-oriented partner to trust with its brand. We are honored to carry the legacy and successes of past years to Alfa Romeo.
Both sides have always sought to strengthen their relationship in the long term. Over the past three seasons, we have laid a solid foundation and are now looking to capitalize on this work in 2021 and beyond. ”
