According to reports, former Major League Baseball star Alex Rodriguez (Alex Rodriguez) will acquire the Minnesota Timberwolves for $1.5 billion.
According to the sports website The Athletic, the two alleged new owners have no plans to transfer NBA teams. They will take control in 2023, and the 79-year-old Glen Taylor (Glen Taylor) will continue to be the major shareholder for the next two seasons.
The latter bought the Timberwolves in 1994, but the team did not live up to expectations during their reign and only entered the playoffs since 2004. Meanwhile, the Bobcats have won the WNBA championship four times.
This is Rodriguez’s second attempt to purchase a sports franchise after he tried to acquire the New York Mets in 2020.
