Dusan Tadic and Nicolás Tagliafico are missing from Ajax’s starting eleven for the Eredivisie match against Fortuna Sittard. Captain Tadic is sitting on the bench, while Tagliafico is completely absent from trainer Erik ten Hag’s match selection.
Jurgen Ekkelenkamp replaces Tadic in the starting line-up, who gets a rest for Tuesday’s Champions League match at and against Danish FC Midtjylland. Tagliafico is not fit for competition. Lisandro Martínez takes the place of the Argentinian left back.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar returns to the selection of the team from Amsterdam. The routine was absent for one week for unclear reasons. Mohammed Kudus is still struck by a serious knee injury he sustained in the Champions League match against Liverpool on October 21.
Ajax wrote history last week with a 0-13 victory over VVV-Venlo, which was by far the biggest victory ever in the Eredivisie. The previous record was also held by Ajax and dated from 1972. Then the team from Amsterdam took 12-1 against Vitesse at home.
In the Champions League it went less energetically with Ajax last Wednesday. The team of trainer Ten Hag lost a 0-2 lead against Atalanta in Bergamo and had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
Ajax-Fortuna Sittard starts on Saturday at 8 p.m. and is led by referee Siemen Mulder.
Ajax setup: Onana; Mazraoui, Schuurs, Blind, Martínez; Klaassen, Ekkelenkamp, Gravenberch; Antony, Traoré, Neres.
Line-up Fortuna Sittard: Van Osch; Rota, Angha, Jach, Cox; Tekie, Rienstra, Smeets, Seuntjens; Polter, Flemming.
