Ajax does not allow internationals Zakaria Labyad, Noussair Mazraoui (both Morocco), Mohammed Kudus (Ghana) and Lassina Traoré (Burkina Faso) to travel to their national team as a precaution.
A spokesman for Ajax confirms on Tuesday AT5 that the club does not want the four to go to areas where the Dutch government has an orange or red travel advice due to the corona virus.
Morocco will face Senegal (9 October) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (13 October) in exhibition matches in the capital Rabat, Ghana will play against Mali (9 October) and Qatar (12 October) in Turkish Antalya and Burkina Faso will play against in Morocco Democratic Republic of the Congo (October 9) and Madagascar (October 12).
Under FIFA’s special corona rules, a club may prohibit internationals from traveling to the national team if the players have to be quarantined for more than five days upon return. Ajax’s four African internationals would officially have to be quarantined for ten days if they went to Morocco or Turkey.
Ajax keeper André Onana may join his national team, because Cameroon will play its exhibition match against Japan in Utrecht on Friday. Edson Álvarez has also been released, as Mexico will practice twice in the Netherlands (Wednesday against the Orange squad in Amsterdam and next Tuesday against Algeria in The Hague).
