Valley Art Center hosts exhibition in Chagrin Falls; satellite-inspired quilt show; pre-spring maintenance; identifying weeds; maple sugar; Chagrin Valley Restaurant Week; Chagrin Documentary Film Festival encore passes.

Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, is hosting an exhibition called “Rendering: A Digital Discourse”, featuring five local digital and artificial intelligence artists. The show opens Friday, Jan. 27, and will be on view through Wednesday, March 8. A special artist panel on digital and artificial intelligence art will be held Feb. 10. The West Woods Nature Center is also hosting an exhibit called “Earth in Three Bands, R, G, B”, which explores satellite imagery and “false-color” depictions of remote-sensed satellite images from geographical information systems (GIS). The artist, Deb Berkebile, used hand-dying and painting techniques, along with ice-dying and digital manipulation of the images printed on her fabrics. Geauga Park District Naturalist Chris Mentrek is offering a pre-spring maintenance session at The West Woods Nature Center, where participants can learn about sharpening tools and identifying weeds. Judy Barnhart, president of the Native Plant Society of Northeastern Ohio, is holding a program on identifying weeds from 1 to 2 p.m. March 26. Karie Wheaton of the Geauga Park District is offering programs twice a month on maple sugaring and spring wildflowers. The Chagrin Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting a kick-off party for the Chagrin Valley Restaurant Week from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 30.
