Unlike his peers Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, the good Rupert Grint aka Ron Weasley of Harry Potter hasn’t had as rich a career, but perhaps he has a more traditional life …
If you grew up with the the saga in Harry Potter in movies and on TV, you grew up with Harry, Hermione and Ron, i.e. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. If the first two, however, managed to stay in the star sytem, the same cannot be said of Rupert Grint, now thirty-two, who never stopped working but was not really able to “break through”. Let’s take a look behind the scenes of his private life and his acting commitments, which still continue today.
To the registry office Rupert Alexander Lloyd Grint, the future Ron Weasley of the Harry Potter saga, was born in 1988 in Harlow, Essex. The son of an automotive gadget dealer, he has a prolific family like the Weasleys: he is in fact the oldest of five brothers. Its not a story of a son of art, but it begins to become passionate about acting since middle school, continuing to tread the school stages even in high school, when in the meantime his name (we imagine) will have brought a certain luster to the end of year performances. In fact, it was 2000 when, as a fan of libri in Harry Potter on JK Rowling recently exploded, it is proposed with a video for the open casting of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: he has just read that Warner Bros wants to focus on a truly English cast and sends his impromptu rap.
Rupert Grint is not one star, is a kid with a passion for acting and will become an average man with a passion for acting, far from the glamor of his colleagues: on the other hand, in the first non-Harry Potter film in which he is involved, Full-throttle shorts (2002), he is a child prodigy who cannot smell and becomes friends with another kid afflicted by uncontrollable flatulence. Let’s not talk about hits (although director Peter Hewitt is not the latest).
Rupert Grint, his fame during the Harry Potter saga
In the period from 2004 to 2009, in which he becomes a teenager and also stops studying at 16 (“I didn’t like school so much”, he will simply declare), in addition to the films of the saga in Harry Potter in which he gradually improves as an actor, tests himself in minor works, independent comedies: Traveling with Evie (2006), Cherrybomb (2009, strong stuff forbidden to minors) and is then in the choral Wild Target (2010) by a veteran like Jonathan Lynn. However, in the latter case it is a participation as a supporting actor, in a film that is not too well known around the world.
Since 2011, the year in which his Ron Weasley greets the public later Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, begins dating the English actress Georgia Groome (born in 1992), from which he will also have one daughter in 2020. A very stable love life, to which Rupert will parallel new cinematic incursions, all however in the rear, without approaching Hollywood.
Rupert Grint after Harry Potter: what is he playing?
After the closure of the Harry Potter saga, Rupert Grint appears in the war Prisoners of the ice (2012), a film about World War II pilots, then CBGB (2013, on the birth of punk rock in New York) and in the independent Charlie Countryman (2013) with Shia LaBeouf, where he is a friend of the protagonist and in one scene he swallows an elephantine dose of Viagra (seriously). While he has since begun acting in the theater, in 2015 he is in the even more bizarre Moonwalkers, to date his latest film engagement, where he plays the role of a shabby musical agent who is supposed to help a CIA agent contact Stanley Kubrick in the late 1960s. The purpose? Make him turn the fake moon landing. Oddities for Rupert Grint on screen, then, and we wouldn’t be surprised if most of you never came across it.
The speech changes, however, for the television militancy: they are not serie trendy as a Stranger Things, but since 2017 Grint has had regular roles in the black humor of Sick Note, in the tv version of the Snatch di Guy Ritchie, in Agatha Christie – The infernal series (shoulder of John Malkovich-Poirot) and lately in horror Servant, coideato da M. Night Shyamalan.
Rupert Grint looks back on the past like Ron Weasley
Active without the stress of fame, now dad, ready to invest his fame in food campaigns and / or health favor, Rupert Grint in 2018 discussed his with The Independent life and career philosophy. We close with his words:
I’m not the most ambitious person in the world. From that point of view I am quite relaxed. I also value time for myself, I am rather happy with how things are going. […] It’s not that you’re aiming to shock people to make Ron completely forget. I don’t think it’s possible. Those films were a thing unto themselves. It will be difficult to get people to forget them entirely. You just have to hug them.
