Aleksandar Rankovic was fired on Saturday as trainer of ADO Den Haag. The 42-year-old Serb got his congé shortly after the 2-4 defeat against FC Twente, his agent has confirmed to Press.
Rankovic had only been with ADO since this season, the club for which he also played as a player. The former defender was busy with his first job as head coach in the Hofstad, where he had to build an almost completely new team.
It was already restless at ADO, where assistant coaches Rick Hoogendorp and Michele Santoni were removed from the technical staff this week. Moreover, Rankovic last week did not deny that there were tensions between him and the club management.
Rankovic’s resignation means that the former assistant coach of Vitesse and Sparta Rotterdam has only sat on the bench for nine games as coach of ADO. He booked two victories: one in the competition and one in the cup tournament.
After the almost hopeless defeat against FC Twente, ADO, which escaped relegation last season, is number sixteen in the Eredivisie with four points from eight games.
It is not yet known who will succeed Rankovic in the Cars Jeans Stadium. According to Broadcaster West Richard Knopper, who was the only assistant trainer in the ADO staff, also has to leave the Hagenaars.
