I took it out of the box, posed for it, and then mounted it on my personal desktop. The assembly is extremely simple, on the right is a plug in which the part with the contacts is inserted, and on the left it is fastened with a tiny screw, as you can probably see from the image. If you have never been in contact with an SSD in M2 2280 format, you will probably find it great to have 1TB of storage on a device measuring 80 x 22 x 3.85mm. Especially for those who used hard drives, not long ago they were the size and weight of a brick. And speaking of weight, the ADATA SWORDFISH SSD weighs 10.5g.
The manufacturer promises read / write speeds up to 1800 / 1200MB / s and we will see if it is right or promises too much.
Because the computer slot was already busy, I took out my SSD and when I put ADATA SWORDFISH I had to reinstall Windows. I put Windows 10 (build 2004) on the stick, the copy operation took 3.36 minutes, and the complete installation, 6.08 minutes. I don’t usually time, but for the test I was curious and it was really fast.
After installation, I started testing and copied from another SSD in my computer a folder over 43.6 GB, containing the game Doom Eternal, on ADATA SWORDFISH. The maximum write speed was 480 MB / s and the operation lasted one minute and 37 seconds.
Starting from these measurements we calculated that you can write 10GB of information on ADATA SWORDFISH in about 22 seconds and 1GB in 2.2 seconds. Of course, the speed can vary depending on at least 2 factors: the type of file or files transferred and the storage from which you transfer.
Then we did 2 synthetic tests that showed that the storage is exceptional, according to Novabench, and that the speed specifications offered by ADATA are correct.
Novabench test result.
Rezultate test CrystalDiskMark.
So, if you are interested in an SSD with large storage capacity and significantly faster than what you are currently using, ADATA SWORDFISH, at a price of about 420 lei, can be an inspired choice.
