Mexico reported 617 new deaths due to the pandemic of the COVID-19, with which the number of fatalities rose to 95,842 in the country, indicated authorities of the Ministry of Health.
In addition, in the last 24 hours, 5,746 new infections were registered, for a total of 978,531 confirmed cases. With these figures, Mexico It is the tenth country with the most infections and the fourth with the most absolute deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Increase in numbers
In the daily technical report of the pandemic, they confirmed 0.64% increases in deaths and 0.58% in infections, in contrast to the figures of the previous day, when there were 95,225 deaths and 972,785 cases
Since the beginning of the pandemicOn February 28, 2,537,046 patients were studied in Mexico who had a positivity rate of 39%, reported the director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, José Luis Alomía, at a press conference at the National Palace.
Among the group of patients studied, there are 978,531 who tested positive for viral infection1,191,522 with a negative result and 366,993 still remain as suspected cases.
Suspects and recovered
Health authorities classify suspected cases in those who do not have a sample (189,087), those who have no possibility of obtaining a result (116,603) and those who wait to know the diagnosis of their test (61,303).
Alomía highlighted that 725,846 patients are classified as recovered people. “The decrease in cases in the country registers a drop of at least 14% after three weeks that it was on the rise,” said Alomía.
The projections of the Mexican authorities indicate that in the country there are at this time 1,135,266 estimated cases and they point out that 4% of the estimated cases, corresponding to 47,948, are the estimated active cases that represent the active epidemic in the country, as they are patients who developed their symptoms in the last 14 days.
Fourth cause of death
The official pointed out that the health authorities currently have 15,671 suspicious deaths which are classified as those without a sample (10,795), those without a diagnosis (4,379) and those that can (497).
It was reported that 10 entities of the country accumulate 62% of deaths due to coronavirus and Mexico City alone accounts for 16% of all deaths nationwide.
