A woman died and two other men are hospitalized in critical condition after a plane crashed on a pier in Queens, New York.

The New York Fire Department confirmed that three people were on board the single – engine seaplane Cessna 182 at the time of the accident, Sunday at 3pm.

The woman who suffered fatal injuries was identified by police as Maggie O’Neill, 61, and the pilot identified was Giuseppe Oppedisano, 61, who lived in the area and also owned a restaurant called Il Bacco in Queens. .

According to the first witnesses who came to the scene, both the pilot and the other passenger They were already off the plane when rescuers arrived. All were rushed to hospital, where O’Neill eventually passed away.

Authorities said witnesses described the plane as flying “pretty fast” stuck to the surface, when it hit the water twice before hitting the dock.
