The ‘Minister’ of Health of the Generalitat, Alba Vergés, has specified that the plan to reopen the activity After the restrictions derived from the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, it will be progressive and will between three and four sections (of a periodicity of 15 days) that will start from next Monday with the return of the outdoor activities.
He explained it at a press conference this Monday in which the ‘Minister’ of the Interior also participated, Miquel Sàmper, the coordinator of the covid-19 monitoring unit in Catalonia, Jacobo Mendioroz, and the mayor of the Mossos d’Esquadra Monica Luis.
When asked about a possible opening of the suspended cultural and sports activities, Vergés has ruled out advancing details until they meet with the affected sectors this week: “We will explain the commitments we make.”
However, he has asked prudence because in the current epidemiological state “the system can be harmed if the opening of the affected activities is not done properly”, which is why it has demanded involvement to avoid a reversal of the situation.
On whether there will be changes in the time limit decreed with the curfew, Vergés has clarified that “there will not necessarily be a modification” of this norm and has added that this opening will not represent a permission to start all activities en masse.
In the same way, the ‘councilor’ has assured that they cannot advance when the face-to-face classes in the university environment because they represent “many trips and a lot of social interaction” that they want to avoid.
Vergés has advocated for finding “the best balance” between the epidemiological situation derived from the pandemic and the vitality of Catalonia, which, according to the ‘councilor’, is made up of social and economic activity.
