The athletic event of the Urban Mile has become a classic in downtown Buenos Aires in recent seasons. Now, due to the health situation and the suspension of the different events, this test – which is part of a South American mile race circuit – has been scheduled “virtually” for November 14 and 15.
According to the organizers, “a new virtual challenge is launched. It is the second edition of NB MillaVirtual, gratuito For all runners, the goal is to continue promoting healthy living in this challenging 2020. The number of participants is expected to triple compared to the May edition. “
Those who want to join the movement, which will take place the weekend of November 14 and 15, they must register on the platform DIET and, once there, join the NB Milla Urbana club. From Saturday, November 7, the challenge will be available #NbmillaVirtual, where they should sign up.
The invitation is made for all of Latin America. A strong presence is expected from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Colombia, in addition to Paraguay, Uruguay, El Salvador, Ecuador, Panama and Costa Rica (which are some of the countries that receive some stopover from the circuit); although athletes from all over the world can participate.
In a pandemic context, sport is more than ever a health tool, a liberation space and a face-to-face or virtual meeting place.
“The #NBMillaVirtual will be the largest virtual race in the region. We are eager to meet again on the streets, but through virtuality, we find a way to be united and continue doing what we like, which is running, ”said Gustavo Montes, race director.
The NB Milla Urbana emerged in Argentina in 2016, a creation of Gustavo Montes, director of the multiplatform Factor Running, in order to bring athletics to the streets. It is a novel and original event, its realization is by series separated by age range, where the competition is very active. The mile strengthened year after year and is already triumphing abroad, in 2019 it included Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador and Uruguay.
