He Tour of Italy he experienced an eventful stage again on the fourth day of the race, this time, for a fall caused by a helicopter in the final section of the route and that has affected two runners of the Zabù-KTM wines.
The moment of the accident was not recorded by television cameras, but the fact that the platoon got so broken to the finish line, it suggested that there had been a fall in the last few meters.
Once the stage was over, the broadcast showed the runners Luca Wackermann Y Etienne van Empel lying on the asphalt, showing clear signs of pain, with the police cordoning off the area and an ambulance at the scene.
Only the Dutchman managed to get back on the bike and complete the stage, crossing the finish line last more than 13 minutes behind French Arnaud Démare, winner of the day.

Wackerman, on the other hand, was taken to a hospital with a badly bruised leg and the possibility of that the pelvis would have been broken, as stated by the director of the Vini Zabù-KTM.
Although no images of the moment of the fall have transpired, the journalist Goga Ruiz-Sandoval reported that the incident was caused by a helicopter. It flew too low and displaced billboards, without the cyclists being able to avoid them.
