Budget Assistant Eva De Bleeker posted a good table on Thursday on the tariff of vaccines contracted by the EU, and also the amount that Belgium will invest in these vaccines. The tweet had been deleted in the meantime, but the journalists have come to make a printscreen.
The Western Commission had said it could not necessarily disclose the negotiated prices for your vaccine because of the terms of secrecy agreed with the manufacturing companies.
The least expensive vaccine is the one developed by Oxford / AstraZeneca, which costs less when compared with 2 euros, and the most expensive may be the vaccine developed by Moderna, namely $ 18.
According to the table posted on Twitter, the prices negotiated together with six developer companies are the following:
- Oxford/AstraZeneca: 1.78 euro
- Johnson & Johnson: $ 8.50
- Sanofi/GSK: 6.56 euro
- BioNTech/Pfizer: 12 euro
- CureVac: 12 euro
- Modern: $ 18
The particular Belgian official revealed that Belgium is going to buy 33 million doses connected with vaccine, worth 279 euros.
The European Commission reacted by simply reiterating that vaccine prices usually are confidential and do not comment on the situation within Belgium.
De Bleeker defined that the publication of the table had been an error of the communication team.
