CIOs need to be sustainability leaders; focus on device management, reduce e-waste, source sustainably, extend device life, and find new life for devices.

In the modern world, technology has a massive impact on the environment, from the materials used to create devices to the energy needed to power them. As such, boards of directors and other stakeholders are asking IT leaders to go green in the quest to meet environmental sustainability goals. To do this, IT leaders need to focus on sustainable sourcing for devices, reducing the number of devices used, and finding new life for devices that are no longer needed. By taking these steps, CIOs can not only reduce costs but also help to reduce enterprise e-waste and emissions.
